An Experimental Approach to Plein-air Painting

Join Holly Hungett for a day of exploration, discovery and thinking outside the box. Fun warm-up exercises in the classroom to get your creative juices flowing. Capture the essence of what you see!

You’ll create a mini-series (3 – 5 paintings) from your inspirations; eliminate fussy details; create color harmony; simplify a scene. All levels are welcome. Bring your own supplies and lunch. Materials list sent upon registration and can also be viewed HERE.

Space is limited to 12! Register by March 15. $65 donation includes all supplies and instruction. Your additional donation to enable future art workshops and support the upkeep of the Sanctuary grounds and facilities is gratefully received.

Painting mostly on location, Hungett draws inspiration from connecting to nature. Working small in watercolor, ink, or mixed media she captures the essential elements of her location. Holly’s interest lies in expressive line, harmonious colors, reducing the number of shapes, and moving deeper towards abstraction.

COVID-19 precautions will be in place to reduce chance of transmission:

• Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, a positive diagnosis, or recent exposure to someone with COVID-19 is asked to stay home and a refund will be issued.
• Masks and hand sanitizer are available throughout our facilities.
• Wearing masks is currently optional.
• We will be following any additional guidelines that are released the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.
