Love Is the Key

Love Is the Key

By Norman Paulsen

Question: Is it possible to attain full God-realization through following the classical Christian beliefs, simply by studying the Bible and by prayer?

Norman Paulsen answers:
Jesus said, “These things I do, you can do also.” It doesn’t mean that everyone who goes to church and says, “Jesus is my savior,” will find total God-realization. You have to live it every day. You have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk—seven days a week, not just Sundays. You have to walk the same walk Jesus did, taking on his virtues, his works. That takes a lot of spiritual work. Surely some devout Christians accomplish this. They go into their closets to pray, as Jesus said. This is the form of meditation that we are talking about in Sunburst’s Kriya Yoga Meditation.

St. John lived a life of abstinence and deep prayer in the caves of Patmos, where he wrote Revelations. He wrote of seeing the rainbow round about the throne of God. What does this mean? St. John was experiencing the masculine and feminine currents (called “ida and pingala” by yogis) arching up over the crown of his head, and reuniting with the Christ light as it reentered the body at his crown center. He knew through deep prayer that the throne of God existed within him. St. John was a great yogi—as great as any of the yogis in India.

Those who sit down and sincerely pray for others, for the world and for themselves, perform a meditation of great magnitude. Souls who combine this practice with living a life that exemplifies Jesus’ teachings live a life of great spiritual merit, and can attain true God-realization by their own efforts and by Christ’s blessing.

Prayer is meditation when it’s done with an open heart, expressing one hundred percent of your love. Love is the key to God-realization. If we don’t have love for God, we have to find it. Love delivers us to God’s heart, to His face, to His presence. That’s why Yogananda was always saying to us monks, “Get devotion—get love—you’ve got to get devotion for God!”

Intellect keeps analyzing and trying to work concepts down to where there is only one concept, and still most don’t see God when they get there. This practice of seeking God through knowledge is called jnana yoga, and it’s a very difficult path to follow. It takes a long time to finally arrive at the original concept, which is the reality of God existing in the Light.

We are joined together with God when the love of the heart opens up like a flower to receive the light. Meditation develops love for God. That’s why meditation is so important—to be practiced alone, as well as in a group. That is why Jesus said, “Go into your closet and pray.” Go to a quiet place where you and God are alone—when you awaken in the morning, and before you go to sleep at night. It’s a great and wondrous mystery, and the more we meditate, the more it unfolds for us.

If you mentally chant to God long and hard enough, you will begin to hear your voice resounding within. Sometimes, you will be able to chant from the highest to the lowest note—soprano to baritone. When you can really feel and hear your own voice ringing in inner space, then you’re going to start hearing God talking to you, saying, “Keep it up; don’t stop; I love you.” You hear His voice the same way you are beginning to hear your own, as you attempt to project it within. It’s an absolute fact that you can accomplish this in your meditations.

God is going to start talking to you, giving you encouragement, messages, direction, and love. It’s wondrous. That’s true prayer, true conversation with God. That’s real meditation. Again, that is why meditation is so important. For the early Christians, the time that they spent sitting alone, opening their hearts to Christ, reflecting with great love upon the life and teachings of Jesus, led them into that closeness and illumination, that Christ consciousness.

Love—The Most Powerful Force

Love—The Most Powerful Force

by John Kiddie

Mother Father God, I Am That I Am,
All these names are You.
It is the longing of our hearts that inspires us
To sit with You and feel Your energy.
We invite all enlightened beings—past, present and future to be here now.
May we feel Your spirit hand upon us this day. Amen

As we look around us at the world we live in today we ask ourselves, “What can I do to help? What difference can I make?”

We can make this world a better place by connecting to the source of love within us. This source is at the center of our being, the center of our soul.

When we become aware of this source, we can tap into it, increasing the amount of love we hold and radiate. We can become powerful transmitters of this love, and as it permeates our being, our expression becomes one of love.

Love is the most powerful force in the Universe, and as it grows within us, it has a positive effect around us, and throughout the world.

We can discover this source of love by practicing meditation. As we spend time in meditation, we begin to pull our energy within, away from the outer senses. As our mind starts to calm, we begin to feel our joy and love increasing. By continued practice, this source of love grows within us.

We are here to help each other, to care for each other, to understand, forgive and serve one another. We are here to have love for every person born on Earth. Each spirit has the capacity to be filled with love and eternal energy. As more and more people receive this energy, we will see positive changes in this world.

This world sorely needs to be transformed, for a higher consciousness to reign here, so that we can make it a garden once again, filled with love. As our love grows within us, it spreads; it radiates out transforming us, those around us, and our world.

God is Pure Consciousness

God is Pure Consciousness

by Norman Paulsen

I Am the space between that which observes and that which is observed.
I am the Pure Self; I Am That I Am.

Consciousness is the key to where I AM exists. Consciousness is the Pure Self existing within, watching me, the soul. If consciousness is absent, soul has no awareness. Consciousness is beyond light and time. Consciousness created light and time. Consciousness created the miraculous five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. Consciousness is God surrounding me, watching me, the soul.

In meditation, I cannot become totally conscious until I can observe that it is my thoughts that carry me away. When I’m able to concentrate fully conscious upon the Light at the smallest of all places before me, this experience touches the very roots of my existence. I have touched the hem of Christ’s garment.

In the space between the cessation of one thought and the birth of another, thoughts suddenly cease; pure consciousness speaks. It is the voice of God, I AM THAT I AM, saying: I love you.

Stop thinking, and see and hear God speaking to you!

Can we identify thoughts? If we can, we can identify God. Thoughts, as energy particles, exist upon the surface of Pure Consciousness, like clouds in the sky.

God is the space between and around my thoughts. God is Pure Consciousness surrounding me, watching me, the soul.

Pure Consciousness is ecstasy. It identifies the smallest of all places and expands into the largest of all places, the expanding sphere of creation. Transcending the creation, It exists beyond space and time, in the eternal “Thatness” of Divine Spirit as ever-new joy, bliss and love! Cosmic consciousness means being aware, as a soul, of Pure Consciousness, God. That man becomes a true son of God, that woman a true daughter, when soul uses awareness to perceive Pure Consciousness, God, as the only substance supporting soul.

Pure consciousness designed the physical great upper brain structure with its right and left cerebrums. Jesus referred to the great higher brain as the upper room, the upper chamber, and invited his disciples to follow him there. Jesus was well aware of this great structure and its functions. It was designed by Pure Consciousness, God, for the sixth sense, the Christ sense, Christ consciousness to function through while the soul is in the physical body.

The attempts of mankind to reproduce the capabilities of the Cosmic Mind through computer technology are a detour away from the truth within each one of us. The computers of today cannot compare to the latent powers locked up within this upper brain, fashioned by the Divine. If as much time was spent on learning how to meditate and how to live a loving, virtuous life accessing this divine gift, as is spent on the pursuits of wealth and keeping better records on computers, our world would be God- realized. Every day would be a joy and an ecstasy to live.

Yes, the great higher brain was created for God, I AM THAT I AM, to inhabit and enjoy the fruits and beauties of the world through the physical body. In today’s terms, it is the greatest of all computers, capable of containing the wisdom, draft and design of all images in creation. How do we gain access to it?

The secret is meditation upon Christ, I AM THAT I AM. Christ consciousness will anoint and descend upon the meditating soul within the dual sacred spirals, sacred vortexes of white fire. This is the baptism of fire. These dual forces of power descend through and around the door on the crown of the head, and move toward the heart center, to meet the meditator’s ascending life forces. These dual forces begin to program the great upper brain structure to function at greater capacity. As if through an umbilical cord, the meditator’s great upper brain and spinal centers are nourished with the energy of Christ, I AM THAT I AM. The growth of Christ consciousness—the process of divine illumination—has begun. This is the true destiny of each one of us.
