“Uni-Cycles” -Universal Cycles

When was the last time you saw the Milky Way splashed across the heavens, or watched meteor after meteor streaking through the night sky?

• Discover just how cyclical and interconnected the universe is on a journey through space and time.
• View celestial bodies through a telescope.
• Interact with educational displays.
• Sleep under the star-filled sky (register ahead).
• Families with school-age children welcome.

At this favorite annual event, explore astronomy through interactive presentations and activities, and then watch the Perseid meteor shower after dark!

What we’ll do

Explore a different astronomy topic each year with Sunburst’s lifelong astronomy enthusiast Moksha Badarayan, interact with hands-on educational displays, and more.

Then after dark, learn to navigate the sky, and enjoy the Perseid meteor shower!

To add to the fun, you may also choose to stay overnight: sleep in a cabin, bring a tent or vehicle, or sleep under the star-filled sky (it’s really dark out here at night!), surrounded by the oak-dotted rolling hills of Sunburst Sanctuary.

What to bring for stargazing

• Pillow (Sunburst will provide a large tarp)
• Warm jacket and blanket
• Small flashlight (optional)
• Binoculars (optional)

COVID-19 precautions will be in place to prevent possible transmission:

• Registration capacity is limited due to COVID-19 precautions.
• Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or a positive diagnosis or test result is asked to stay home, and a refund will be issued.
• Wearing of masks is currently optional.
• We will be following any additional guidelines that are released by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department.
